These are the steps for creating a patient account and generating a patient account key/token. Note that this process can also be completed using the aTouchAway App.
If you do not have Dashboard access, you can create a token in the aTouchAway App. For those instructions, click here.
To create a new patient account, use one of the following methods. Your access may depend on your organization, your role, or your permissions.
1. Creating a New Patient Account / Account Key Using Creation / Token
On the Dashboard under Patient Management, click Creation/Token.
Click ADD at the bottom of the page.
A new window will open with two tabs: Create New Patient and Invite by Email.
For most patients, the recommended method is to create the patient and send them an email separately as patients are most likely to log in if they receive the email from their care provider instead of receiving a message from Aetonix.
Fill in the patient's information and select "Mobile/Bring Your Own Device" in the Patient Type field. (For more details on Patient Types, go here.)
Select a Patient Group and/or assign a default manager, as needed.
Add information to the Pinned Note text box, if desired. This section can be used to add non-clinical details to the patient's program at the time the account is created.
Click CREATE.
You will now see the patient added to the list of patients. Any default managers assigned will receive a notification on the aTouchAway app of the new patient added.
To obtain the patient's Account Key/Token, click the "token" icon.
A pop-up box will display the patient's unique Account Key/Token to access the aTouchAway app.
2. Creating a New Patient Account / Account Key Using Patients
On the Dashboard under Patient Management, click Patients.
Click on + Add Patient in the top right corner of the page.
Fill in the patient's information and select "Mobile/Bring Your Own Device" in the Patient Type field. (For more details on Patient Types, go here.)
Select a Patient Group and/or assign a default manager as needed.
Add information to the Pinned Note text box, if desired. This section can be used to add non-clinical details to the patient's program at the time the patient's account is created.
Click CREATE NEW PATIENT.
To obtain the patient's Account Key/Token, click the 3-dot menu to the right of the patient's name. Click Patient Token.
A pop-up box will display the patient's unique Account Key/Token to access the aTouchAway app.
Sharing the Account Key
Depending on your workflow, you may copy and paste the key into an email to send to the patient or provide it to them via phone.
If the patient will be accessing the aTouchAway app on their personal mobile device, you will need to provide them with instructions on how to log in to aTouchAway. There's a detailed help article here that you can send them: How to log in with an access key.
The token is a one-time use key that the patient will need to use to log in to the aTouchAway app. Upon logging in, they need to complete registration by associating an email address to the account and setting up a password. After successfully registering, the token/account key will no longer be needed/usable.
Alternatively, if the patient will be accessing the aTouchAway app on an Aetonix tablet as an aTouchAway / Simplified patient, you will need to set up the tablet for them using this token. See Setting up an Aetonix Tablet and Kit.
On the Patient's device
On the aTouchAway login page on the patient's device, click Enter an account key.
Enter the code from the Token window (accessed earlier) in the field. Click Sign into aTouchAway.
For patients using the aTouchAway tablet/Simplified, the account will be displayed on the tablet.
For patients using their own device, on the next page, the patient's email address needs to be added, and a password needs to be created and confirmed.
If the patient is struggling to think of a password, consider these options to help.
Suggest they use:
- a familiar phrase and not include spaces between words
- use the first letters from each word of a phrase or line from a song
- use a familiar object, phrase or song lyric and change 1 or more characters to numbers and / or symbols

For any patients using the aTouchAway tablet as Simplified users: If the patient is logged in using a token and the aTouchAway platform is inactive for 30 days, the system will log the patient out. A new token will need to be shared with the patient, so they can log in again.
For any patients using their own devices: If the patient is logged in using a token and the aTouchAway platform is inactive for 30 days, the system will log the patient out. The patient will be required to log in with their email and password.
